Police have identified two men as being responsible for the killing of local rap artist  "D-Mac Deluxx".

Just after midnight on August 21, police responded to the Knights Inn Hotel located near Interstate 17 and McDowell Road.

There, they found the victim, 26-year-old Deshawn McDonald, in some bushes near the hotel. Family members tell ABC15 McDonald was a local rapper who went by the name "D-Mac Deluxx".

Police say McDonald was shot two times after a fight with two men.

Lt. Paul Taylor said that McDonald was celebrating his birthday with his brother at a nearby nightclub when a black Mercedes pulled up. McDonald reportedly told his brother he would be back soon, as he got into the car with the two men.

After a few minutes, McDonald's family and friends came out of the nightclub to look for him and saw police at the shooting scene.

Police report that they found a cell phone in the area of the shooting that did not belong to McDonald. They were able to lift a fingerprint from the phone, which belonged to 33-year-old Frederick Jerome Hill. McDonald's brother identified Hill as the man driving the Mercedes that McDonald entered.

Police say phone records lead them to another person who allegedly told police that she brokered a drug deal for that night between McDonald, Hill, and 28-year-old Brian Darrell Holmes, although no drugs were found at the shooting scene.

Hill and Holmes have both been charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery. Police are currently searching for the two suspects.
