A woman was arrested for stealing credit cards, cash and jewelry from victims in Scottsdale and Phoenix while out on bond for similar charges in Illinois.

Scottsdale police report that 28-year-old Ashlei Nicole Smith was arrested on January 31 for taking more than $133,000 in cash and jewelry from her elderly customers in Phoenix and Scottsdale.

Police say the crimes occurred between August 2016 and January 2017 when Smith reportedly stole about $23,000 in cash and diamond rings. One of the rings was worth over $47,000. Smith allegedly pawned the ring for $4,000. The same victim reported additional jewelry, valued at over $40,000, was also stolen.

Another victim reported a $3,500 ring stolen, which was a Valentine's Day gift from her husband.

Police say Smith also used credit cards stolen from the victims to purchase items. Police retrieved some of the jewelry when they searched Smith's car and condo. Smith was actually wearing some of the stolen jewelry at the time of her arrest.

Police say Smith was out on bond for similar crimes out of Illinois, and has committed these type of crimes in many states for the past nine years.

She has now been charged with multiple felonies including theft, identity theft, and fraudulent schemes and trafficking in stolen property.
