Police rescued a 2-year-old child from a man who broke into a west Phoenix home and sexually assaulted his mother.
Phoenix Police report that on August 13, a woman was on the phone with her friend when she heard a noise outside. When she went to investigate, she saw a man, later identified as 23-year-old Bisimo Emedi, breaking into her Maryvale home. She then grabbed her 2-year-old son and hid while her friend contacted police.
Police say Emedi found the woman hiding in her closet with her son. He removed her from the closet and sexually assaulted her. He told the woman that more men were outside and they would come in if she didn't comply.
When police arrived, they heard a child inside and a woman crying. They forced themselves into the home and found the woman lying on the bedroom floor and the man hiding in the closet, holding the woman's son.
Police managed to separate the boy from Emedi, who was then arrested. The woman told police that she recognized Emedi as someone she has seen at the apartment complex in the past.
Emedi ran from police after being handcuffed but was soon recaptured.
He is being held without bond on kidnapping and sexual assault charges.
