A man admitted to police he inappropriately touched a preteen girl because he was lonely after his girlfriend left him.

According to court records, on October 6 the man bought a young girl a can of soda at a north Phoenix apartment complex, and then touched her as she bent over to retrieve it.

Police were called to the complex after a family member reported their daughter being assaulted by a man who lived in the same apartment complex.

Police say 42-year-old Aldric Spencer allegedly grabbed the girl on her back side after she bent down to get the soda, then hugged her and tried to kiss her on the lips.

The girl was able to escape Spencer and run home to alert her family, who then called police.

When interviewed by police, Spencer reportedly admitted to touching the girl and trying to kiss her. He told police he did it because he was lonely, because his girlfriend had recently left him.

Spencer has been charged with aggravated assault.
