After bragging that he got away with armed robbery, a Phoenix man is caught by police, two years after the crime.
Police report that on January 7, 2015 two men entered a smoke shop, near 32nd and Roosevelt Streets, to rob the place. One man was armed with a shotgun and the other, 26-year-old Christopher Anthony Garcia, was armed with a handgun.
Police say employees were fighting with the suspects when the shotgun went off hitting one of the victims in the back. The victim, a friend of a store employee, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect with the shotgun was held down by employees and arrested by police. Garcia fled the area leaving his friend behind.
In October 2016, police received information that Garcia was bragging about the crime. Police located and arrested Garcia on March 14 near 30th Street and Southern Avenue.
Garcia, who was recently released from prison, allegedly admitted to the robbery saying he's known the other suspect since they were children.
He's been charged with armed robbery.
