A Mesa man who works for a company that sells used children's clothes and toys was caught stealing a scooter from a child.

Court records show that on September 29, Nicholas Michael Hoy, 21, chased a 13-year-old boy and his friends to a store near Hawes and Guadalupe Road.

Police report that Hoy shoved the boy to the ground and took his scooter. He then reportedly knocked the child's glasses off his face before driving away.

Several children recognized Hoy as a person living in their neighborhood.

Another adult witness verified the children's accounts.

Hoy was contacted and arrested the next day.

Ironically, Hoy works for a business that takes in used children's clothing and toys and resells them.

He has been charged with robbery.
