Police: DNA connects man to 5 sexual assaults over past 14 years

A DNA match has connected one man to five sexual assaults in Phoenix since 2003.

Phoenix police report that 57-year-old Darrell Levan Moses was located and arrested on March 7 near 7th Avenue and Van Buren Street.

On June 14, 2015, police say a woman was brought to an apartment by a friend to meet Moses where she was allegedly tied up and beaten. After forcing the victim to shower, Moses reportedly forced her to have sex with him. He made sure she showered again before allowing her to leave. The victim left and contacted police.

In 2016, A DNA match from this attack not only linked Moses to this crime but four other cases of sexual assault.

Police say in 2003 Moses sexually assaulted an 18-year-old daughter of an ex-girlfriend, in 2011 he sexually assaulted a woman who was sharing drugs with him. In 2015 and 2016 he sexually assaulted women who were spending the night at his apartment.

Police say Moses used rope, pillows, and a hammer to force his victims to comply.

Moses is being held without bond on 23 counts of aggravated assault, sexual assault, kidnapping.
