A woman who jumped from a moving car to escape an assault was then run over by her boyfriend, police say.
Phoenix police report that on December 10, Jorge Trinidad, 40, was arguing with his girlfriend while driving near 51st Avenue and Thomas Road.
Police say he punched his girlfriend several times, giving her a significant cut on her upper lip.
After the woman jumped from the moving vehicle to escape, Trinidad stopped the car and tried to get her back into the car.
She refused and walked ahead. That's when he allegedly ran over her left foot and ankle with his vehicle, according to police.
Doctors believe her ankle is broken, but it was so swollen they couldn't be sure at the time.
Trinidad was captured at his home a few blocks away. Police said they found blood inside and outside his car. He was in prison the past two years and was just released in August.
He has now been charged with aggravated assault.
