Two witnesses rescued a woman who was being assaulted and kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend.

Phoenix police report that on April 18, Phillip Ray Williams, 39, took his three-year-old daughter away from her mother. The mother chased him down and Williams allegedly punched the mother in the face while still holding the child and then placed the child in the car.

Police say the victim's mother was able to get the child out of the car while the woman fought with Williams.

At that point, police say, Williams grabbed the woman, put her into the car and held her by the throat. The woman fought and managed to get out of the car, but Williams caught her and threw her into the driver's seat. He then attempted to strangle her again, demanding that she drive them away.

The woman reportedly put the car into gear and planned on crashing the car into a wall, when two witnesses intervened, giving the woman a chance to get out.

Williams was located and arrested by police two days later for endangerment, kidnapping and aggravated assault.
