A Valley parent recently checking her child's cell phone found out about an illegal sexual relationship with an adult neighbor.
Phoenix police report that on February 22 they received a call saying the parent of a pre-teen girl found text messages between her and a man that indicated they were in a sexual relationship.
The victim reportedly relayed to police that 20-year-old Steven Joseph Hernandez, a neighbor, living in the area of 30th Street and McDowell Road, had touched her in a sexual way on several occasions.
Police say Hernandez met the girl before school, saying "he wanted to do something to her and she would like it."
Hernandez allegedly met the girl before school on two other occasions.
Police say Hernandez admitted to touching the girl several times and also allegedly admitted to knowing the girl's age.
Hernandez is being held on a $250,000 cash bond on multiple charges of sexual conduct with a minor.
