PHOENIX — Phoenix police are looking for a man accused of stealing a car and dragging the owner as he drove away.

Investigators say this incident happened Sunday, July 19, around 3:00 a.m. near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road.

Surveillance video shows an 18-year-old woman walking away from her car, which was left running, and toward the door of a convenience store. That's when the suspect walked past her and toward her car.

She noticed him and followed him back. He then jumped into the driver's seat, put the car in reverse and pushed the gas pedal. While he reversed, the woman was dragged and eventually fell away from the moving car.

Police say she suffered minor injuries only.

The car was found a short time later by police, but the man had already taken off.

He's described as being 20-25 years old, 5'8" tall, a thin build, long hair, with a mustache. He was wearing a bandana around his neck, a long-sleeve shirt, tan cargo shorts, and light-colored tennis shoes.

Phoenix police are offering $1,000 cash to the first person who can help identify the suspect. Call 480-WITNESS if you have any information.
