Police say a Phoenix man fled the scene of a crash and dragged a motorcycle rider a quarter of a mile right in front of officers.

Court records show that two Salt River Police Officers were at the intersection of 35th Avenue and McDowell Road on July 15, when they witnessed 23-year-old Eduardo Millan collide with a motorcycle rider in the intersection. They say instead of stopping, Millan kept driving and dragged the rider, who was stuck under the car. After being pulled over 1,200 feet, the victim was dislodged from under the car.

When the rider fell from underneath the car, Millan left the scene. The officers followed Millan as he tried to evade the officers by driving down alleys. Millan crashed his car near 27th Avenue and Pierce Road and ran away.

He was soon detained by the officers.

Police say Millan showed signs of impairment.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to his back and third degree burns.

Millan has been charged with aggravated DUI and failure to stay at the scene of an injury accident.
