A woman making dinner for her kids was accosted in her home by a man running from police last month.

Glendale Police says that officers located a stolen Honda on September 27 and began to follow the suspect. The suspect realized police were following and sped away, but police were able to follow him to a neighborhood near 45th Avenue and Indian School Road.

The suspect, 30-year-old Robert Joseph Gerardo, allegedly broke in the back door of a home as a woman was making dinner with her children. The victim told police that Gerardo would not let anyone leave the home and would not allow her to make any calls.

Gerardo soon took the keys to the woman's Jeep and drove away, eluding police in the neighborhood.

Police recovered the stolen vehicles and found Gerardo's fingerprints on both. He was located and arrested on October 11.

He has been charged with car theft and kidnapping.
