SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Witnesses at a Scottsdale Fry's store captured a purse snatcher.

Scottsdale police report that on July 17 they responded to a strong-armed robbery at the Fry's store near Hayden and McDowell roads.

There they found 19-year-old Braydan Christopher Breedlove being held by witnesses at the back of the store.

Police say Breedlove grabbed the woman's purse off her shoulder in the parking lot, breaking the strap and causing the woman to fall. Witnesses yelled at Breedlove, who dropped the purse and ran.

The witnesses chased him until they captured him in the back of the store.

Breedlove allegedly told police that he wanted the money for food, drinks, and a bus pass.

Police say the woman injured her tailbone and her fingernail was ripped off.

Breedlove has been charged with attempted robbery, assault, and criminal damage.
