A suspect with a butcher knife is accused of chasing a man from a Tempe light rail platform.

Tempe police say that on November 28, Antonio Bernard Johnson, age 51, was at a Tempe light rail platform near Washington Street and Center Parkway.

He was allegedly standing over the victim holding a 5-inch butcher knife and 8-inch river rock. Johnson reportedly threatened to kill the victim, lunging at him with the knife.

Witnesses reported to police that the victim managed to get away and run from Johnson, who chased him with the knife about 100 yards.

Police in the area witnessed the chase and stopped Johnson.

He has been charged with aggravated assault.
