PHOENIX — A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting in West Phoenix that left one dead and one injured.

Wednesday morning, Phoenix police arrested Vanessa Ozuna, 28, after leaving a law office in Avondale.

Police say Ozuna was in a car involved in a deadly shooting near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road early Sunday morning. Upon her arrest, Ozuna reportedly told police that her boyfriend Gabriel Munoz was driving her car, and they were being chased by another vehicle flashing their lights.

She says they tried to evade the car but they went into a cul-de-sac. She says two men got out of their vehicle and confronted Munoz, looking for a fight. Munoz reportedly got out of the car as Ozuna got into the driver's seat.

She says Munoz later got back into the car when the two men started damaging her car. Ozuna says she never saw Munoz fire a gun and never heard any gunshots.

Police say the witnesses in the other car tell a different story, and shell casings were found at the crime scene and on her vehicle.

Police say the victims were the ones being followed by Munoz before he opened fire on the victims. One man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim was shot in the arm and was seen putting a tourniquet on his arm. Police say Munoz and Ozuna fled the scene but turned around and came back towards the victims, with Munoz firing more shots hitting one victim two more times.

Ozuna is being held on a $250,000 bond for first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and drive-by shooting.
