Never mess with a mom protecting her children.

Court records show that on August 29, a stranger entered a home with a woman and two children inside. The mom wrestled her phone away from the intruder to contact police.

Phoenix police report the man, 26-year-old Eric Marquiz Turner, entered the home near 59th Avenue and McDowell Road through the unlocked front door at about 3:30 in the afternoon.

The woman reportedly grabbed her children, ages 7 and 10, and tried to escape, but Turner blocked the door. The mom tried to call for help, but Turner took her phone away from her.

Police report that the mother, "forcefully took the phone away from the defendant and took her children to a back bedroom, locking herself inside and contacted police."

Police managed to get the family out, through the bedroom window. Meanwhile, Turner barricaded himself in another room using furniture to block the door. He later smashed the bedroom window and tried to run but was captured by police.

Turner who is on parole for a burglary conviction has been charged with kidnapping and burglary.
