Gilbert parents were arrested after lab tests showed that their 3-year-old daughter had meth in her system.

Gilbert police report that, in connection with Mesa police, a search warrant was served at the home of 28-year-old Gid Monroe Copley and Kimberly Lambert, 27, near Higley and Baseline Roads on September 14.

Police say, inside the house, they found drug scales, straws, and burnt drug residue. They say the drug residue and pills were on the floor of the home, where the 3-year-old child had access to them.

Police report that the home was littered with "dozens of soiled diapers lying about," along with a litter box overflowing with cat feces.

At the request of the Arizona Department of Child safety, a hair follicle was taken from the child and analyzed. Investigators say the hair sample tested positive for methamphetamine.

Copley and Lambert were arrested in Mesa on October 16 and have been charged with child abuse.
