A Mesa woman fires a shot from a rifle to scare off an intruder, attempting to enter through a window.
Mesa police report that on April 17 a man, later identified as 31-year-old Keion Terrell Ellis, was halfway through the front door of a home, near Main Street and Higley Road, when he was shoved out by the victim.
Ellis then allegedly attempted to enter the home through a window. He removed the screen and was seen by the victim's child trying to enter the home. The woman pointed a rifle at the man warning him multiple times to leave. When he continued trying to break the window the woman fired one shot striking the window near Ellis.
Ellis left the area but returned later, again pounding on the door and window. This time police were there to detain him.
Police say Ellis is known to the victim’s family as there has been an on-going dispute. He is also known to carry a pellet gun. The victim reported to police that she was in fear for the safety of herself and her small children.
Ellis reportedly told police that he was continuing an altercation between him and another person who was hiding in the home.
Ellis was arrested for burglary and disorderly conduct.
