A Mesa man used his skateboard to get away after assaulting a woman with it, leaving her bruised and bleeding.

Mesa police report that on September 15, a man later identified as Matthew Vincent Cadue, 26, was in an argument with a woman when he allegedly struck her in the head with his skateboard.

A witness told police that they recognized Cadue as the suspect in the assault and saw him leave the scene on his skateboard.

The woman reportedly had a gash on her head and was knocked out for a brief period after being struck.

About a week later, Cadue was located at his job site near Dobson Road and Southern Avenue. After barricading himself in the bathroom, he eventually surrendered to police.

Cadue reportedly admitted to being in an altercation with the woman but denied striking her.

Police say they confiscated the skateboard as evidence.

Cadue, who also had a felony warrant for his arrest, has been charged with aggravated assault.
