A man is accused of stealing copper wires which caused a power outage at Mesa's Riverview Park.
Mesa Police report that on Dec. 1 a man, later identified as 40-year-old Jeremy William Snyder, was seen removing copper wire from lights near Dobson Road and Rio Salado Parkway.
Police say Snyder broke open a concrete junction box and was using a "ratcheting pulley" to pull the copper from the conduit. He severed several wires cutting power to the park from Loop 101 to Dobson Road.
Police say he caused about $12,000 in damage.
Snyder fled from police on a bicycle but was soon captured. He's been charged with multiple crimes including criminal damage and theft
