An armed man impersonating a federal agent has been arrested after attempting to invade a Glendale home.

Glendale police report that on August 21, 46-year-old Kevin Townsend tried to push his way into a home near 83rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

Police say Townsend was wearing a red polo shirt with 'Maricopa County' on the front of it when he made contact with the victim at about 10 p.m.

While on the porch, police say Townsend claimed he was a federal agent. The homeowner asked for credentials and Townsend allegedly produced a badge and a "hand written business card."

Townsend reportedly tried to push his way into the home but was stopped by the homeowner. Townsend then pulled out a .44 caliber handgun and placed it into the stomach of the victim, saying "I’m not afraid to use this."

The victim was able to close the door on Townsend, who ran away.

Police located him a few blocks from the house.

Townsend is being held for burglary, aggravated assault and impersonating an officer.
