A man was cut multiple times with a machete during a family fight in Surprise.

Surprise police say that on October 4 they were called to a home near Reems and Bell Road for a report of two men fighting and a woman trying to separate them.

Police say 50-year-old Marvin Walker got into a fight with his girlfriend's son and was punched, before going to his room and getting a machete.

Police say Walker then chased the victim out of the home, striking him at least three times with the machete, cutting him in the back and chin.

Police say the victim required stitches to close his wounds.

Upon his arrest, Walker allegedly told police that he was upset over the way he was being treated by the victim, and admitted to striking him with the machete, after being punched.

He said the victim then took the machete away from him and struck him in the back of the head.

Walker was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
