PHOENIX — A man in Phoenix has been arrested and charged with sexual extortion of an underage teenage girl.
Phoenix police report that on November 19, they arrested Joseph David Castro, 19, at his home near 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Court records show that in August, Castro and a 15-year-old girl had several sexual conversations via text. Included in those conversations were nude images of the girl that she sent to Castro.
Police say Castro demanded additional photos of the girl, and if she didn't get send them, he would post the nude images he had on social media. The texts were reportedly found by the girl's parents, who then contacted the police.
According to investigators, the girl told Castro that she was 15-years-old and sophomore in high school.
Upon his arrest, Castro allegedly told police that he was in possession of the photos of the girl, but never made good on his threat to expose them.
Castro has been charged with sexual extortion.
