Multiple shots were fired outside a Peoria apartment complex striking an occupied truck and three occupied apartments.

Peoria police report that on September 28, they received numerous calls regarding shots being fired at an apartment complex near 91st and Peoria avenues.

Police say a woman was in her apartment with her four children and her boyfriend. As her boyfriend went outside to leave, she reportedly saw her ex-boyfriend Cipriano Bastida in his truck, in the parking lot.

The man and Bastida started arguing when Bastida allegedly reached to grab something out of his truck. The victim got into his vehicle and tried to leave, but Bastida fired several shots at his vehicle, striking it several times.

The victim’s truck hit the curb and became disabled. Bastida then drove away.

Police say they found bullet strikes in the victim’s car and more bullet strikes at four apartments, three of them being occupied by ten people including five children. No one was hit.

Police say they found the handgun used by Bastida in a nearby street.

They used his cell phone to track him to another apartment complex near 83rd Avenue and Indian School Road. Police set up around the apartment and waited until about 6 a.m. when Bastida came out to go to his truck. That's when police moved in and arrested him.

Bastida allegedly admitted to his actions, saying he gave money to his ex-girlfriend and they were supposed to have dinner that night, but she never showed up.

Bastida has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and drive-by shooting and is being held on a $150,000 bond.
