Police say a man was shot and killed and a dog was also shot during an altercation at a west Phoenix apartment complex last month.

Phoenix Police report that on March 25, they were called to an apartment complex near 75th Avenue and Indian School Road.

Several witnesses reported that the victim was involved in an altercation with and the suspects, identified as 19-year-old Courtlin Mikel Florence and 19-year-old David Borland. Some of the witnesses posted a video of the argument on social media.

A witness reportedly told police that a few months before the shooting, the victim sold a pitbull to Florence, who uses a wheelchair.

After hearing the gunshots on March 25, several witnesses reportedly saw an armed Florence being pushed in his wheelchair by Borland, leaving the scene.

Police found the victim shot to death in the parking lot. In their investigation, police also learned the dog belonging to Florence had also been shot.

Both Florence and Borland are being held on $1 million bonds for murder and animal cruelty.
