A man accused of ramming a teenage driver in Goodyear is behind bars after the victim's father found him months later and alerted police.
Court records show that on June 4, a Goodyear man threatened a teenager and his mother, then pursued and rammed them with his car.
Goodyear Police report that a 16-year-old boy and his mother were driving in a neighborhood near Cotton Lane and Van Buren Street when 54-year-old David Martinez-Acosta contacted them in front his family's house. Acosta allegedly started yelling profanities at them saying, "I'm going to kill you." Acosta then began to remove something from the back seat of his car.
Police say the teen was in the driver's seat and pulled away from Acosta, who pursued them in his car. The teen lost control of the car and spun to a stop a block away. Witnesses say Acosta then circled the car and rammed it on the driver's side.
Several people gave police a vehicle description and the identity of Acosta.
Surprisingly, Acosta's ex-wife showed up at the scene and provided Goodyear police with a Glendale police report showing that Acosta rammed her car in May.
Police were unable to locate Acosta until August 10 when the father and husband of the victims knocked on the door of Acosta's family, and Acosta answered the door. The father called police and Acosta was found running in the neighborhood. He was bitten and held by K-9 officer Rudy.
Acosta has been charged with aggravated assault and endangerment.
