PD: Car thieves bail out of moving car in central Phoenix

PHOENIX — Car thieves bailed out of a moving car in central Phoenix, leaving it driverless and is went down Van Buren Street, according to court paperwork.

Phoenix police report that on October 22, just before noon, police saw a Subaru traveling down Van Buren Street near 38th Street with all four doors open and nobody inside. The car was going about 10 miles per hour until it hit a telephone pole and stopped.

Police captured two of the car's occupants, Travon Markel Cheatham, 22 and Lamont Rashaad Donaldson, 19. Police later determined that Donaldson was the driver of the stolen car about a mile away.

Both suspects are being held without bond since they were already on pre-trial release for other felonies.

They are being charged with car theft and unlawful use of a vehicle.
