A 10-year-old girl from Kingman was reportedly left in the desert by her father with no shoes or water.
The Mohave County Sheriff Office reports that on July 22, Christopher Charles Watson, 28, left his daughter in the desert in 90-degree temperatures with no water and without shoes.
A woman contacted them saying she saw the girl crying while she was walking her dog. She noticed the girl had no shoes as she told her that her dad left her in the desert.
The girl reported to deputies that her father drove her to the desert and forced her out of the truck. She also hit her head when he sped away as she tried to grab the door handle. Deputies also noticed a bite mark on her hand, which the girl said her dad was responsible for as well.
Deputies went to Watson's home and woke him up. Watson allegedly admitted to taking her for a drive to "calm her down" after an argument. He left her there and returned home for about 15 minutes before going back to the desert to get her, but could not find her.
The Department of Child Safety took custody of the girl and her 9-year-old brother.
Watson was booked for child abuse.
