A Mesa woman is okay after she found a stranger in her living room.

Court records show that on March 30, a woman in Mesa left her bathroom and found a strange man in her home.

Police report the woman, who lives near University Drive and Gilbert Road, came out of her bathroom and found 38-year-old Joey Lynn Peebles in her living room.

She yelled at Peebles to leave but he reportedly told the woman that he was with maintenance and was in the wrong apartment.

Police say Peebles left the apartment, but not the apartment complex, as they found him coming out of the side yard of another apartment, from which he did not live.

Police noticed that Peebles was wearing a pair of women's jean shorts, when they arrested him.

Peebles reportedly told police he got the shorts from the dryer in the laundry room, next door to the woman's apartment.

Peebles reported to police that he thought he was going into his girlfriend's apartment.

He has been charged with criminal trespassing.
