A Glendale man was arrested after a six-week-old infant was found with broken ribs and a broken left leg.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reports that on September 8 they were called to the West Valley Hospital regarding a six-week-old boy with a fractured left femur and broken ribs.

The child’s mother reported to MCSO that she saw her boyfriend, 21-year-old Carlos Alejandro Gomez Belmonte, "forcefully pick up their child and slam him down on the bed."

She brought the baby to the hospital after seeing his leg swell up. Hospital workers say X-rays showed a broken left leg and fractured ribs on the left side of his body.

Belmonte allegedly admitted to MCSO that he became frustrated with his son's crying and he grabbed him, shook him and threw him on the bed.

He's being held on child abuse charges.
