SALT RIVER INDIAN COMMUNITY, AZ — A man was stopped while transporting 76 pounds of meth from Mexico to Los Angeles.

The Salt River Police Department reports that on November 3, they stopped the truck for speeding on Interstate 10 near Johnson Road. A K-9 officer alerted them to the possibility of drugs hidden in the rear passenger door of the truck.

When searched, officers reportedly found 15 bags of meth in the door. After a more thorough search of the truck, officers allegedly found a total of 75 bags of meth, weighing 76 pounds. Court records show that the value of the drugs is estimated to be as high as $210,000.

The driver of the truck, De Jesus Iban Grijalva, 35, reportedly told police that he was going to be paid $15,000 to drive the drugs from Mexico to Los Angeles.

He has been charged on various drug charges, including the transportation of dangerous drugs for sale.
