Court documents show that a Mesa man was trying to help a friend get over a break-up and was later hit with a golf club by the same friend.

Police say that 34-year-old Angel Erasmo Frescas was feeling down because of a recent break-up. He went out drinking with a friend and they ended up back at his home near Price and Baseline roads.

After some time there, Frescas asked his friend to leave the house, but the friend had trouble finding his keys. Police say the two men wrestled and fought in the house and the garage.

That's when, police report, Frescas grabbed a golf club and struck the victim twice in the face. The victim ran to a neighbor's house to ask for help.

Frescas, according to police, took the golf club outside and smashed the victim's windshield, breaking the club.

Upon his arrest Frescas told police he didn't remember any actions he took with the golf club.

He has been charged with aggravated assault and criminal damage.
