A man has been charged with child abuse after police discovered him passed out in his vehicle with a young child.

Police responded to the area of 91st Avenue and Bethany Home Road on December 9 after receiving a report of a child awake in a car with an adult driver that had been unconscious for four hours.

According to police, 33-year-old Aaron Talamantez was asleep in the drivers’ seat when they arrived and saw a five-year-old girl allegedly playing with a ‘Zippo’ lighter. Police believe Talamantez was coming down from a meth high and say it took several attempts to wake him up.

Police report that two people came out of the house near where Talamantez was parked and it was later discovered that both of them had outstanding warrants.

Talamantez has been charged with child abuse.
