A Glendale man who was invited to a gathering of friends and co-workers was caught sexually assaulting the pre-teen daughter of the host.

Court records show that 31-year-old Sergio Leonel Gomez-Godinez excused himself from the patio, where the party was at, and went into the room of a pre-teen girl and sexually assaulted her. He was discovered in the act by an inquisitive mother.

Glendale police say that on March 30, a group of people were gathered in a home near 67th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. The pre-teen victim and her two younger sisters went into a bedroom to sleep. Police say that's when the man said he was going to the restroom and went into the host's house.

Police say that several minutes later, the victim's mother went inside and found the bedroom door ajar. She reportedly opened the door, turned the lights on and saw Godinez sexually assaulting her daughter.

Family members detained Godinez until police arrived. He's been charged with aggravated assault on a minor and sexual conduct with a minor.
