DPS: Man arrested after causing $10,000 in damage to Phoenix College

PHOENIX — A man has been arrested after causing about $10,000 in damage to Phoenix College.

The Department of Public Safety reports that on February 3, Dakota Joseph Garrett, 26, was identified by security cameras and facial recognition as the person who illegally entered Phoenix College near 15th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Once inside, Garrett allegedly caused about $10,000 in damage to doors, floors, and ceilings in bathrooms and classrooms, according to court records.

Upon his arrest, Garrett was reportedly found to have several keys belonging to the school.

He is being held without bond since he was on pre-trial release on previous charges of trespassing and burglary. He has now also been charged with theft and criminal damage.
