PHOENIX — A teenager is dead after a shooting in west Phoenix Saturday night.
Phoenix police say they got a call about a shooting near 43rd Avenue and Thomas Road around 9:30 p.m.
At the same time that they got the report of the shooting, officers received a different report of a teenager who was brought to a hospital nearby with a gunshot wound.
They say they quickly linked the two reports as one investigation.
Officials say the victim, along with other juveniles, left the parking lot of a convenience store when someone began shooting in their direction.
The other juveniles then took the teen to the hospital.
The teenager was reportedly left in critical condition but has since died.
Officials identified the victim as 15-year-old Bryan Perez.
Officials said Monday morning that they arrested and are charging 18-year-old Julian Francisco Soto in connection to the shooting.
