PHOENIX — Two Arizona State University saliva testing sites for COVID were closed down Thursday after its computers suffered malfunctions due to the rain.

According to the university, one of the testing sites that had to turn people away is the Phoenix Municipal Stadium at 56th and Van Buren streets, which is open to the public. The second location that closed was the Lot 59 testing site on campus, which only administers tests to ASU employees and students"

The university said there are plans to expand the Mesa Convention Center testing site for Thursday afternoon for those who couldn't get tested due to the malfunctions.

The Phoenix Municipal Stadium site may open Friday but that has not been confirmed, ASU said.

ASU added that saliva testing has gone up as they have expanded testing sites and seen more demand in the past few weeks.

ASU extended the hours at the Mesa Convention Center until 8 p.m. Thursday to get some of the people who didn't get tested earlier.

The Phoenix Municipal Stadium will also be open Friday from 7 a.m. - 11 a.m. for those turned away Thursday. ASU usually requires an appointment online, but they will not turn people away.
