The Los Angeles City Hall facility won the Walk the Walk Award for outstanding water conservation during the past year, thanks to a Valley company.
When the Los Angeles Better Buildings Challenge award was presented April 29, city officials credited Scottsdale-based Dynamic Water Technologies for saving more than 1.5 million gallons, or 20%, of annual water usage and reducing sewer discharge by 85% in the 530,000-square-foot city hall building.
The DWT system uses advanced electrochemical science to remove heavy metals and ions which form lime scale in HVAC chiller systems without using chemicals, said Michael Boyko, CEO of Dynamic Water Technologies.
By removing excess minerals from cooling towers and chilling systems, companies can reuse the water for a longer period of time.
