Once again, charter schools dominated the list of Arizona's top high schools as ranked by average SAT scores.

One charter school operator — Basis Educational Ventures — took eight of the top 10 spots on this year's Business Journal ranking based on 2017 SAT scores, the newest data available from the Arizona Department of Education.

Basis has more than 16,000 students enrolled in its network of 22 public charter schools in Arizona. It operates 27 charter schools across the U.S.

Today, Arizona has 557 charter schools offering a spectrum of educational models, from back-to-basics to technical trades to college preparation.
