A bill that would raise the bar to protect businesses from Covid-19-related lawsuits advanced out of the Arizona House of Representatives Thursday, just as the House adjourned.
The bill raises the standard for lawsuits for people to sue businesses regarding effects from the virus.
Under its proposal, a business could only be sued if it was grossly negligent, instead of being just negligent in the possible spread of the virus, according to a report from Capitol Media Services.
Republican proponents of the bill say it is a necessary adjustment to ensure businesses are protected and the economy can get moving again.
