Arizona bill could bump transportation costs with increased gas taxes

A bill winding its way through the Arizona Legislature could hike the state's gas tax, potentially adding to businesses' transportation costs.

House Bill 2899 passed through the House Transportation Committee earlier this week.

It calls for an increase in the state's gas tax by 18 cents over three years, doubling the current rate, according to the Arizona Republic.

It means the state's gas tax would be 36 cents a gallon by 2023.
