Four teens risked their lives to rescue a 90-year-old neighbor from her burning home.

The Sapulpa, Oklahoma, woman lived in her home for nearly 60 years before it was recently destroyed by fire and smoke, local news station KTUL said.

The woman said she was getting ready for bed when she turned around and noticed her bed on fire. She reportedly tried to put out the flames herself, but ended up calling 911 and pressing her emergency button.

Meanwhile, four boys between 14 and 17 years old were nearby looking for something to do. That's when they smelled something burning.

KTUL says the boys tried to break down the door and were able to make entry through the back door. The 14-year-old eventually located the woman inside the smoke-filled home, picked her up and carried her to safety.

Fire officials were able to put out the blaze.

KTUL says the teens later returned to the burned home and said their lives changed for the better since they took action for their neighbor in need.

The victim told the news station she's grateful for her heroes and said they're "special" people.
