An infant loss support group is hoping to get a special bear found at a Goodwill store reunited with its family.
Sawyer’s Heart, a non-profit group that provides support to families who lose a child, started looking for the owner of the “Molly Bear” on Facebook on Thursday.
Molly Bears are special stuffed animals made for parents who lose an infant. These bears are usually weighted the same as the child and decorated with sentimental items or themes.
Sawyer’s Heart says one of these bears, named Matthew, was found at a Goodwill store in Texas. It was purchased for $10 by someone hoping to find its owner.
“I did contact Molly Bears and they sent a letter to the family's last known address and the letter was returned,” the post by Sawyer’s Heart read.
As of Friday morning, the post has been shared nearly 1,500 times by people across the country.
Some commenters say there’s no way the bear was knowingly given away or discarded, with others sharing the importance of their own Molly Bear. However, others believe maybe it was purposely given to Goodwill for resale.
Sawyer's Heart says, for now, the bear is in good hands and being cared for until the mystery is solved.
