CORRIGAN, TX — A photo of a horse in the bed of a pickup truck is making rounds on the internet, sparking concern across the country.

The Facebook photo shows a horse standing in the back of a moving truck without a tailgate. A video of the horse also surfaced, but the videographer said the horse didn't appear spooked or uncomfortable during the ride.

Some commenters gave the driver support, saying horses are loved and cared for, while others said it was cruel and had happened before.

According to ABC13, the photo was taken in Corrigan, Texas, while the truck was traveling on US-59. It was reportedly traveling around 70 miles per hour at the time.

ABC13 says police stopped the driver, who was on his way to work at the Stockyards at the time. He reportedly told them his truck that could pull a trailer wouldn’t start.

They say there was nothing illegal about the transportation, so officers let the driver go.

Fortunately, ABC13 says the horse was transported without incident and was safe at the Stockyards. They say it's a well-trained horse worth $15,000.
