CRESTVIEW, Fla. (AP) — A 13-year-old Tennessee teenager is being charged with stabbing his brother after telling Florida authorities he would rather be in jail than spend 8 hours in the car with his brother, according to a report by the Associated Press (AP).

Deputies with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office arrested the 13-year-old and "charged him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon" as he stabbed his 15-year-old brother's arm three times with a pocket knife, AP reports.

While being questioned by officials, the teen allegedly told deputies he understood his rights and did not regret stabbing his brother.

Deputies responding to the incident said the boy allegedly told them, “I’d rather be in jail than eight hours in the car with him," AP says.
