An Arizona dog shelter rescued dozens of wolfdog pups from California and are in need of volunteers and adoptions for the new furry friends.
Pets Return Home is a dog behavior rehabilitation, adoption and sanctuary in Clarkdale, Ariz. The organization became part of a cause dedicated to rescuing wolfdogs in danger, known as the High Desert Wolf Rescue.
The dogs were saved from euthanasia at a puppy mill in California after an abatement warrant was issued.
The shelter took in 27 pups and eight mothers. Now, they are asking for help.
The dogs need volunteers to help cuddle and socialize with the animals as well as feed and care for them at the shelter. Volunteering is by appointment. They are also asking for donations to pay for dog food, medical care and supplies. Once the pups are ready, they will need new homes.
Though many states ban owning a full wolf as a pet, the wolfdogs are only part wolf. Many places including Arizona do not have regulations on adopting wolfdogs. Adoptions outside of Arizona are accepted. Be sure to check the laws where you live before adopting.
Prior to adoption, all pups will be neutered/spayed, vaccinated and given a microchip for lifetime registration.
There are home inspections conducted before the adoption as well as a “learning” class for each adopter.
