The Arizona teenager who figured out Apple’s Facetime bug is about to get a big payoff.

With the help of his mom, Grant Thompson, 14, reported the bug to Apple 10 days before it went public. iPhone users around the world were then encouraged to temporarily disable their Facetime app to avoid being spied on without their knowledge.

Apple has since resolved the issue in an update, and the Thompsons have been referred to the company’s “Bug Bounty Program,” which was set up in 2016 to reward people like them.

The family hasn’t found out, or at least publicly acknowledged, how much they could be getting, but payouts start at $25,000 and go up to $200,000 depending on the severity of the bug.

Whatever they get, Grant’s mom says it will be going toward his college education.
