Calm, gentle birth … sound like a dream?
Not really. A safe, calm, gentle, and confident birth can be your reality with HypnoBirthing (HB). HypnoBirthing is a wonderful childbirth education program developed by Marie F. Mongan, M.Ed, M.Hy. in 1989. Over the last three decades, HypnoBirthing has helped thousands of women around the world birth their babies in a calm, gentle way, often without the need of medications or medical interventions.

How do I know this works?
What do Jessica Alba, Angelina Jolie, and Tiffani Thiessen have in common? They are all famous actresses? Yes! What else? They all used HypnoBirthing to stay calm and relaxed during their births. HypnoBirthing techniques are helpful for natural and surgical births. It was long rumored that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton used HypnoBirthing techniques for the birth of her children. Who wouldn't want to use what she used? She looked amazing after her births!

Of the Duchess of Cambridge, the HypnoBirthing Institute reported:

"Today we are very proud to announce and confirm that the royal couple, Catherine and William did prepare for their births with HypnoBirthing International (The Mongan Method). Every woman deserves a safe, comfortable and satisfying birth for herself and her baby, but keep in mind that you don't have to be a princess to have a positive birth."

So what exactly is HypnoBirthing?
It is a natural, instinctive approach to safer, easier, more comfortable birthing. Expectant moms use breathing, visualization, relaxation, affirmations, and self-hypnosis to prepare for their births. While in a calm state, brought about by the various HypnoBrithing techniques, a woman's natural relaxant, endorphins, replace stress hormones that constrict and cause pain, thus moms can gently breathe their way through births.

The following date outlines the benefits of HypnoBirthing:
· 77% of HB moms who birthed vaginally did so without epidural anesthesia
· 45% of HB moms birthed in under eight hours
· 17% of HB moms birthed via C-section (national average is 32%)
· 9.5% of HB moms chose to birth in their homes (national avg. is less than 1%)
· 6% of HB moms birth in freestanding birth centers (national avg. is less than 1%)

What do "real" HypnoBirthing moms say about their birthing experience?
"I really liked Mari and the HypnoBirthing class. As an obstetrician, I've seen many families birth peacefully using HypnoBirthing and I was interested in this experience for myself. I was not comfortable with hiring someone that also was offering doula/lay midwifery services along with HypnoBirthing, and researched many different options in the valley for prenatal HypnoBirthing education. Mari was the clear choice- well educated, knowledgeable in her field, and had an appropriate scope of practice. We did private classes, and she was always on time, enthusiastic, and obviously really cared about our baby and birth experience. She did a good job of making my husband feel included too. I would recommend her to a friend or my patients without hesitation."

"We were second time parents, hoping for a different experience from our first labor and delivery. I'm so glad we took these classes. We learned so much and gained so much confidence. We had our baby girl in less than 2.5 hours of labor. A med-free water birth we so desperately wanted was achieved! Thanks so much for all your knowledge and support!"

Does HypnoBirthing make a difference for mothers and babies?
The imprint of instinctive birth, its beauty, and its naturalness is deeply rooted within a mother and her child. A woman and her baby's bodies are designed to birth naturally. They can work together in perfect harmony in a beautiful birth ballet; one Phoenix HypnoBirthing mom delivered her baby within 30 minutes of arriving at the birthing center. In addition to fast labors, HypnoBirthing moms also experience faster childbirth recoveries and suffer less from post-pardum depression or "baby blues", while HypnoBirthing babies have better sleep and eating routines. They are also well-adjusted babies and children.
