Emma was born with several severe birth defects, including spina bifida, clubbed foot and a kidney condition, most of which were discovered via ultrasound during the 18th week of pregnancy.

She spent the first three months of her life in the NICU at Phoenix Children's Hospital and has been a regular patient ever since.

She has had 17 surgeries in the six years of her life.

Emma frequently visits Phoenix Children's for outpatient appointments, procedures and short stays in the hospital, and feels like her incredible team of doctors, nurses and specialists are part of the family.

One challenge for Emma is she has to eat through a tube, but she recently hit a major milestone, reaching 40 pounds!

Emma's favorite things to do at PCH is the crafting and pet therapy.
